Earlier this summer I had a great Engagement Session in Albany with Astha & Daryl. It was nice to take a break from the intense wedding planning for an hour or two and just get fun pics with the future Bride & Groom. You can check out our park adventure here. After months and months of planning it was great to see this three day wedding shoot come together. We haven’t shot an Indian Wedding since last fall, so we were excited for this one. We had the opportunity to shoot the ladies hands and feet being painted at the henna party two days before the wedding. A day before their nuptials we documented their celebration at Shaker Ridge Country Club. As a Wedding Photographer I look forward to the chance to shoot wedding traditions that are different from what I normally see. When we get to capture a tradition like a Barat which is a special ceremony that bonds the two families, it really makes our job interesting. After prep photos with our bride and groom we did a first look in front of The Desmond. This was a beautiful moment to capture and it enabled Astha & Daryl to grab tons of family photos early on. We had a great time shooting the Barat, with Daryl arriving in style with his friends and family accompanied by a live band (and some parking lot dancing). After the Barat we went into the ceremony which involved our couple having some fun with throwing rice. Later that day our couple made a outfit change for their second ceremony. The night finished up with an amazing reception with some live drums (ears still ringing), our Photo Booth and lots of partying. We loved that young and old packed the dance floor all night!

Daryl and Astha Wedding Montage from Dexter Davis Photography & Films on Vimeo.
This is Astha and Daryl’s ending montage for their 3-day American/Hindu wedding event which took place at the Desmond Hotel in Albany, NY. This is by far the longest (over 12min) and quite possibly the best put out by the studio to date. Enjoy.
