Emily & Tyler's Wedding Day at The State Room

When we arrived at The State Room on a crisp November morning, the city of Albany was settled in that magical late-fall light. Emily and Tyler’s wedding was giving mid-century Gothic romance energy, and from the moment we stepped through the grand doors, deep maroons and rich reds set an evocative, cinematic tone for the day.

Emily and her bridesmaids prepped in a suite; the maroon pajamas, dark florals, and laughter created an atmosphere equal parts elegant and intimate. Across the hall, Tyler and his groomsmen adjusted ties and boutonnières accented with wine-red blooms, sharing quiet moments and nervous excitement.

Tyler believed he and Emily were about to share a traditional first look, but in a playful twist, it was actually one of his groomsmen dressed in a wedding gown waiting for him. The mix of surprise and laughter set a fun, lighthearted tone before the heartfelt moments to come. Later, Emily and Tyler opted for a private first touch behind the venue’s doors. Photographing them as they held hands around the corner, exchanging letters, we could feel both anticipation and love radiate between them. The lighting was soft, the moment tender—a perfect prelude to the ceremony.

The wedding party and family photos were a dream. Against the backdrop of The State Room’s early twentieth-century architecture and the last of the fall foliage, the bridesmaids’ maroon dresses and the groomsmen’s classic black suits popped beautifully. The group’s energy was contagious.

The ceremony unfolded beneath soaring arches and painted ceilings, surrounded by moody lighting and dark, dramatic floral arrangements. As Emily walked down the aisle, Tyler’s reaction was pure emotion. Capturing the exchange of vows and their first kiss was a privilege—these moments felt timeless.

After sunset, we stepped outside for night portraits. The city lights shimmered, and a vintage car awaited, headlights glowing. The couple’s energy stood out in the cool night air. We played with poses and dramatic lighting to capture their love in a cinematic way.

The reception was a feast for the senses— tasteful table settings, vintage goblets, and candlelight. As the night unfolded, laughter, toasts, and dancing filled the room. From beginning to end, Emily and Tyler’s day was beautiful in atmosphere and emotion—a true celebration of love, style, and the magic of fall.
